The European Textile Coalition has just released its manifesto for a ‘European Circular Textile Economy.’
Founded in Autumn 2025, the coalition so far is formed of businesses across the textile value chain; Synergies TLC, Sympany, Erdotex, Nouvelles Fibres Textiles, Coleo, Resortecs, Reju, Selenis texnascis, European Spinning Group, Noyfil, Utexbel, Tissages de Charlieu, Velor Cycling and Ariadne.
The European Circular Textile Coalition Manifesto marks an important milestone for the future of textiles in Europe. It highlights what industry has known for years: Europe produces 12.6 million tonnes of textile waste annually, yet only 1% returns to new garments. The gap between waste and value is massive — but it is possible to make positive change for the future. The manifesto states:
“We formed our coalition because we know Europe can do better by closing the loop in textiles. We aim to help transform EU policy so that the industry shifts from a throw-away paradigm to a circular one, in line with the EU’s 2022 Strategy for Sustainable and Circular Textiles which envisions that by 2030 all textiles on the EU market are durable, repairable and to a great extent made of recycled fibres.”
The manifesto sends a clear message: a circular textile economy is not just an environmental priority, but a strategic economic opportunity. A system that regenerates materials rather than discarding them can drive European innovation, green jobs and industrial competitiveness, especially when textile waste becomes the feedstock for European manufacturing.
We strongly support the manifesto’s three pillars:
- Rebuild a competitive European textile chain, rooted in circularity.
- Prioritize high-quality textile-to-textile recycling, which will truly address Europe’s textile waste problem.
- Introduce mandatory recycled content requirements to ensure structural demand for circular materials.
At Reju, we see this alignment within the textile industry as essential. Regulation and infrastructure must move together. The coalition is ready to help bridge that gap by offering technical expertise, industrial pathways and market insight, ensuring textiles never become waste in the first place. Recover. Regenerate. Recirculate. Closing the loops are the only way.
We invite like-minded companies from collectors to brands across Europe to join the coalition. When a world without textile waste is possible, collaboration is the most powerful tool we have.
We look forward to getting the work done in Europe and closing the loops in our current liner model.
